Funeral services for Orville Richard Bjerke, 78, of Fairview, Okla., formally of Weatherford, Okla., will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Central Christian Church in Fairview, Okla. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 8701 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City. The Rev. Ronnie Hopkins will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
There will be viewing before the service at the church.
Orville Richard Bjerke was born Aug. 15, 1929, to Bennie and Tina (Jellum) Bjerke on the family farm in Albert Lea and passed away March 12, 2008, at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview. Orville attended Hammer Elementary School and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Damato from 1949 to 1952. On Aug. 23, 1953, he was united in marriage to Lois Ladonna Christensen in Albert Lea. The couple lived in Austin where he was employed as a Journeyman Electrician. In 1959 Orville was employed by the 3M Company and moved to Hastings with their two children Gwen and Scott where they resided until 1969 when Orville was offered the opportunity with 3M to relocate to Weatherford, Okla. Orville continued his long and loved career with 3M for more than 30 years. In 2005, Orville moved to Fairview to be closer to family and attended Central Christian Church. Orville was a beloved husband and father and friend to all. He loved to go to Canada on fishing trips with his siblings and their spouses, play cribbage, golf and tennis. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Sons of Norway.
He is survived by his son, Scott Bjerke and his wife Carolyn of Kingfisher, Okla., and his daughter, Gwen Willits and her husband Dan of Fairview, Okla.; brother Byron &8220;Barney&8221; Bjerke and his wife Elaine Halvorson Bjerke of Albert Lea; sister-in-Law Dorothy Bjerke of Albert Lea; four grandchildren, Clayton Bjerke, Marci Prince, Michaella Willits Lovell and her husband Austen, and Douglas Willits and numerous nieces and nephews.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents, Tina and Bennie Bjerke, his wife Lois Bjerke; brother, William P. Bjerke; sister, Stella Bakken and her husband Junior Bakken; sister, Helen Thompson and her husband Wallace.
