Shirley Wente, 71, Sun City Center, Fla.

Funeral services for Shirley Wente, 71, of Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of Albert Lea, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Shirley died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Sun City Center.

Shirley was born on Sept. 1, 1936, to Ralph and Bertha (Petz) Briske in Wabasha County. Shirley married Donald Wente on Sept. 5, 1954. The couple made their home in Albert Lea where Shirley worked as a cook for the Stables Supper Club. Later, she was employed by Good Samaritan Center and received her LPN degree. Shirley was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and active in the Lydia circle. She was also a member of the Eagles and Elks clubs. After Donald&8217;s death, Shirley moved to Sun City Center, Fla., and was employed at Homewood Assisted Living as a nurse.

Survivors include her children Debra (Ronald) Vaughan and Doris Wente; granddaughter, Kristin (Christopher) Garrison; brothers, Glen, Virgil, Lee and Larry Briske; half-sisters, Joyce Chaves and Diane Brevig; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and brother, Albert Briske.
