BREAKING NEWS: Three area school district released early

Anticipating snowy weather, three area school districts released kids early today. Glenville-Emmons released classes at 12:30 p.m., Lake Mills, Iowa, closed at 11:30 a.m. and Northwood-Kensett, Iowa, schools let out early at 11 a.m.

Northwood-Kensett parent-teacher conferences are postponed.

Alden-Conger, New Richland, Hartland, Ellendale, Geneva and Albert Lea school districts are still in session.

Waseca, Steele, Faribault and Freeborn counties are under a hazardous weather outlook as of 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, which also covers portions of central and southern Minnesota and into west central Wisconsin.

Northwestern winds will bring cold air into the area this afternoon and evening, bringing wind chills to near 25 degrees below zero.

Friday morning will have similar wind chill temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
