WELLS &8212; Bryan Hauge&8217;s bucket with five seconds left gave the United South Central boys&8217; basketball team a big win over Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, 44-43, Tuesday.

The game was tied at 18 at the break before the Bucs went up by eight early in the second half. The Rebels would rally to take the lead at the four-minute mark.

However, W-E-M got a 3-pointer with under a minute to go to take the one-point lead.

That&8217;s when Hague scored on an inbounds play and was fouled in the process. He missed the free throw, but W-E-M would not get a shot off in the closing seconds.

&8220;It was a big win for us and it is even more important because they are in our sub-section,&8221; USC head coach Rob Stevermer said.

The Rebels are now 8-4 in Gopher Conference action and have won eight of their last nine games.

Immanuel Luth. 65, G-E 50

GLENVILLE &8212; The Glenville-Emmons boys&8217; basketball team took a 42-40 lead over Immanuel Lutheran with eight minutes to go in its game Tuesday night, but mistakes cost the Wolverines down the stretch as they lost 65-50.

Garrett Schumaker led the Wolverines with 17 points, Michael Thofson added 12 points and eight second-half rebounds and Jake Kirsch chipped in with 10 points.

G-E is now 3-19 on the season.

Bloom. Prairie 54, NRHEG 46

NEW RICHLAND &8212; In a matchup that almost surely decided the Gopher Conference championship, Blooming Prairie downed New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Gevenva 54-46 Tuesday.

The Panthers came into this season having owned the Gopher Conference in the recent past, but with the Awesome Blossoms having just one conference loss to NRHEG&8217;s three it is now an uphill battle.

Kelsey Christensen and Alyssa Hagen each had 13 points for the Panthers and Cailin Timm added eight.

NRHEG is now 14-9 on the season and 12-3 in conference action.

G-E 61, Immanuel Luth. 34

GLENVILLE &8212; The Glenville-Emmons girls&8217; basketball team broke open a tie game against Immanuel Luther in the second half to win convincingly, 61-34, Tuesday.

&8220;It was our best defensive effort of the season in the second half,&8221; G-E head coach Lisa Ziebell said.

The Wolverines hit 24 shots from the floor in the game and went a solid 10 of 15 from the free throw line.

Jordyn VanRyswyk had 20 of her 28 points in the second half, Kalli VanRyswyk added 10 points and Kailey Davis added three 3-pointers.

G-E is now 6-16 on the season as it prepares to play LeRoy-Ostander Friday.
