Here are highlights in history for Aug. 10, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1993 — The City of Albert Lea was preparing to close the landfill northwest of the city by October.
1983 — Albert Lea’s Northside Elementary School was sold to a Mankato firm for $40,001. The Hayward Elementary School was sold to the City of Hayward for just a dollar.
1973 — Patch of Blue from Totino (Fridley) won the Class A Division of the ‘73 Women’s Slowpitch Softball Tournament held at Albert Lea’s J.M. Snyder Fields.
