Dorothy Dunbar, 86, Fergus Falls

Dorothy M. Dunbar, 86, of Fergus Falls, formerly of Albert Lea, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Walters. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church in Walters on Saturday. The Rev. Donald Rose will officiate and burial will be in the Rice Lake Cemetery, Foster Township, Faribault County.

Dorothy Magdalena Dunbar was born Aug. 9, 1921, the daughter of Walter and Magdalena (Dahl) Crofford. She was raised by Alfred and Mary (Dahl) Johnson from the age of five and a half months and was adopted by them at 6 years of age. She attended District 78 school near the farm where she grew up near Bricelyn. On Dec. 31, 1940, she married Gordon Laddie Dunbar in Walters. Dorothy and Gordon lived on their farm near Alden until moving to Albert Lea in 1981. Dorothy loved being with her family and friends. She was an active member of the United Lutheran Church from many years. She was a very social person and had many friends.

She is survived by three children: Jay (Dolly) Dunbar of Fergus Falls, Michael (Janice) Dunbar of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Sandra (Bruce) Remington of St. Louis Park; five grandchildren: Thomas (Susan) Dunbar, of Green Bay, Wis., Shannon (Mark) Nelson of St. Louis Park, Callie Dunbar of Des Moines, Iowa, Maggie Dunbar of Davenport, Iowa, and Bradley (Victoria) Remington of Indianapolis, Ind.; a step granddaughter Lori Vine of Atlanta, Ga.; a great-granddaughter Emily Dunbar of Green Bay, Wis.; brothers Orville Crofford of Omaha, Neb., and Burnell (Bea) Crofford of Omaha, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; her parents; her sister Clarine Miller; and brothers Arthur Johnson and Kenneth Crofford.

Arrangements are with the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells.
