Glenville-Emmons baseball snaps 5-game skid

Glenville-Emmons starter Jon Mittag came within one out of throwing a no-hitter Monday against Lyle/Pacelli in Austin.
Mittag, instead, settled for a one-hitter in a 12-0 victory that snapped a five-game losing streak for the Wolverines. The only hit he allowed came with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Mittag was magnificent as he struck out 15 hitters and walked none in five innings.
“He threw the ball well tonight, but he wasn’t overpowering,” said Glenville-Emmons head coach Louie Toulouse. “He was spotting the fastball and the curve.”
The Glenville-Emmons offense finally awoke from its slumber to rap out 14 hits and the Wolverines (6-5, 2-2 SEC) made up for a 5-3 loss last Tuesday against the Athletics.
