Funeral services for Roger Lee Simpson, 51, of Wadena, formerly of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, Albert Lea. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at the Graceland Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County Veterans organizations. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service. Roger died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at St. Cloud Medical Center.

Roger Lee Simpson was born on Oct 7, 1956, to Delbert and Elizabeth (Rogers) Simpson, Sr., in Albert Lea. Roger grew up in Albert Lea and was baptized at the Church of Christ. He was a 1976 graduate of Albert Lea High school and served in the United States Army. Roger loved watching car races especially Nascar. He liked working on cars. Roger also liked to paint model cars. He enjoyed bowling and loved animals, especially dogs. Roger loved to spend time with his family and friends.

Roger will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Berven, of Albert Lea; son, Harland Lee Simpson of Hollowayville, Ill.; brothers, Delbert (Julaine) Simpson Jr. and David Simpson both of Albert Lea; sisters, Mary Coxworth of Castalia, Iowa, and Rita (Brian) Rehdantz of Glenville; step-brothers, Larry (Leann) Berven of Temple, Texas, Lonnie (Kim) Berven of Owatonna, and Lynn (Jan) Berven of Albert Lea; nieces and nephews, Scott Coxworth, Chris Anderson, Ray John Coxworth, Sue Rehdantz, Jim Rehdantz, Heather Rehdantz, Brittany Simpson, Justin Norgaard, Jessica Norgaard and Caitlin Coxworth.

Roger was preceded in death by his father; step-sister, Lori Bartholmey, and step-father, Al Berven.
