LMNK goes 3-0 as combined team

RICEVILLE &8212; The combination of the Lake Mills and Northwood-Kensett wrestling teams proved to be very successful in their first duals of the season as they went 3-0 at Riceville.
The two schools &8212; who are sharing one team for the first time this season &8212; put on a dominating display.
LMNK downed Sumner-Fredericksburg to begin the night 45-27.
S-F jumped out to a 9-0 lead before Junior Gallardo pinned Zach Woods in 1:04 at 119. Both Spencer Capitani and Royce Byrnes followed with pins to put LMNK in the lead 18-9.
Wade Hebrink lost at 135 11-9 in overtime and S-R&8217;s Ethan Kime pinned Kyle Peterson at 140 to tie the dual at 18.
However, LMNK&8217;s Ethan Schutter received a forfeit at 145, Jordan Reindl pinned his opponent at 152 and Michael Bachtle earned a fall in 48 seconds at 171 to put his team up 36-21.
LMNK&8217;s Jake Brekken won a close 5-4 match at 189 and Jordan Banwart was a winner by pin at heavyweight.
LMNK dominated CAL winning 84-0 as there were only three contested matches with Jake Katcher, Schutter and Bachtle all winning by fall. The other matches were all won by forfeit.
In the final dual of the night, LMNK took down Riceville 49-27.
LMNK fell down 12-0 after two weights before reeling off four straight beginning with a 10-3 decision for Gallardo. Capitani was a major decision winner at 125 14-5, Byrnes won by fall in 15 seconds and Hebrink also earned a pin in 1:19.
Reindl, Schutter, Bachtle and Abbey also won by fall to complete the sweep.
