Dale Yonkey, 72, Wells

Dale Dallas Yonkey, 72, of Wells, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Easton. The Rev. Ron Jobe will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.
Dale Yonkey was born on May 25, 1935, in Rice Lake Township, Faribault Co, the son of Dallas and Evelyn Laura (Roesler) Yonkey. He attended country school at the Pink Schoolhouse District #40 and graduated from Wells High School. He attended the University of Minnesota from 1953 to 1958. After college his father died and he started farming four miles west of Wells. He married Darlene Fratzke on June 22, 1968, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Smith&8217;s Mills. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Easton, served as Fire Chief in Easton, served on the Walnut Lake Town Board and the Wells Ambulance Board. He was a member of the National Cattleman&8217;s organization. He helped his son and daughter and family with their farming operations. He enjoyed building and creating things useful around the farm and for recreation. He enjoyed going to A and P Service for coffee every morning, reading, socializing and being a Republican.
He is survived by one son: Michael Yonkey and special friend Sheri Thorn of Minnesota Lake; one daughter Michele and husband Mike Fields of Minnesota Lake; three grandchildren: Amberlea, Jarred and Rachael Fields; three step-grandchildren: Tyler, Alexis and Lacy Fields; Two sisters: Delna (Wayne) Mischke of Westbrook, Doris (Chuck) Brooks of Wells; brother-in-law: G.W. Lang of Denver, Colo.; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Darlene and sister Carole Lang.
