Here are highlights in history for Aug. 15, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1987 — Alden-Conger and Freeborn school districts were again preparing to share certain classes. Grades 1-3 and 9-12 would go to Alden and grades 4-8 would go to Freeborn.

1977 — A grand opening was held for the Freeborn County Aircraft Flying Field’s grassy runway near Manchester. This event included an air show and fly-in breakfast.

1937 — The corn pack was underway at the Lake Mills, Iowa, canning plant and preparations were being made for the canning of tomatoes.
