Editorial: College football is better this year

College football might not be so good for the Minnesota Golden Gophers right now but in general the sport has been more enjoyable this season.
Upsets each week mean keeping the usual powerhouses from complete control, which for fans means other teams have a chance at big bowl games.
In the same way so many people despise the New York Yankees in baseball, many college football fans grow weary of the same 10 teams controlling the sport. It&8217;s nice to see fresh faces.
Kansas and Hawaii remain the only unbeaten teams.
TV sports producers don&8217;t like it much because they want predictability. In typical years, it&8217;s less risky to schedule a TV broadcast Ohio State versus Michigan than Kansas versus Oklahoma State.
But indeed the latter matchup was on television this Saturday. Two teams that usually don&8217;t get the attention were finally in the spotlight.
Fans get tired of watching colleges from Florida play every Saturday. They get tired of Southern Cal football marching to the championship game every year. Unpredictable is the best thing to spark interest in college football.
