Betty Jane Rustan, 83, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Betty Jane Rustan, age 83, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Bromeland will officiate.

Interment will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Betty died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.

Betty Jane Rustan was born on Jan. 14, 1924, to Ervin and Edith (McKim) Wright in Rolfe, Iowa.

Betty graduated from high school in West Bend, Iowa and attended the Minnesota Business College in Mankato. She married Burnal Rustan on July 4, 1948, in Jackson. The couple lived in Charles City, Iowa, from 1952 to 1968 where Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Citizens State bank. When they moved to Albert Lea, Betty worked as a Nurse&8217;s aid for Good Samaritan Center and sold Avon until retiring. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Albert Lea and also active in the UMW. Betty was also a member of the Solo Parents and the Eagles Club of Albert Lea.

Survivors include her children Jacqueline Rustan of Burnsville, Jerri Rustan of Owatonna, Rodney (Julie) Rustan of Rochester and Timothy Rustan of Stafford Springs, Conn.; grandchildren, Lori (Blake) Wiedner, Jill (Don) Stenson, Elizabeth Rustan, and Jace Rustan; great-grandchildren, Jack and Max Wiedner; sister, Donna Porter of Fort Dodge, Iowa; brother Kenneth (Margaret) Wright of Rolfe, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Linda Wright, Pamela Sanford, Gerald Wright, Alan Wright, Kevin Wright, Edmond Wright and Marvin Wright.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burnal; brother, James Wright; niece, Evelyn Wright; and granddaughter, Barbara Mikkelson.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the National Parkinson&8217;s Foundation and American Cancer Society.
