Here are highlights in history for Aug. 16, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1988 — One of the special features on the Tribune’s food page was “packing pointers for perfect picnics.” These included dinner in a basket and easy cleanup.

1968 — A fish sandwich and a soft drink were on sale at Dog ‘n Suds on East Main Street.
