ALDEN &8212; It turned out to be a very happy and productive homecoming for the Knights of Alden-Conger when they racked up an incredible 555 yards of total offense and destroyed Madelia 70-18.

The Knights rushed for 402 yards and had eight different players find the end zone in a game that they hope can revive their season.

&8220;It was a lot of fun getting different players in the game,&8221; said Knights head coach Chad Mattson. &8220;We had a tough time with their offense in the first quarter but after that they seemed to back down. We were really able to just take it to them.&8221;

A-C put the first points on the board when E.J. Knight sprinted 62 yards for an 8-0 advantage. Before the first quarter was over David Troska and Nick Wach both found paydirt and the Knights were off and rolling 22-0.

Leading 22-6 in the second A-C&8217;s offense continued to run on all cylinders as Mitchell Kleinschrodt ran the ball in from one yard out then threw a 51 yard bomb to Wach for another score. Andy Cords scored the final touchdown of the first half on a five yard run that put the Knights ahead 42-6.

When things are clicking on the field it seems to be contagious as the Knights subs played the second half and continued to push around the Blackhawks defense, scoring two more times in the third and twice in the fourth for the blowout victory.

Troska led A-C on the ground with 100 yards on eight carries and two score while Kleinschrodt had an impressive night throwing the ball with 153 yards and three TDs on just six completions.

On the defensive side of the ball, Knight and Matt Bremseth both had nine tackles while Wach collected seven. A-C also won the turnover battle 4-2.

With the win the Knights improve to 2-3 on the year as they go on the road next week at Truman.
