USC downs Maple River

MAPLETON &8212; The 10th-ranked United South Central girls&8217; tennis team picked up a big win over Maple River 6-1 Thursday night.
The Rebels improved to 7-2 on the season and are positioning themselves well heading into the conference and section portion of the season.
&8220;Maple River came in and was really looking to upset us,&8221; USC head coach Randy Halvorson said. &8220;But the girls are really playing confident, and we are only losing to (bigger) teams.&8221;
Andrea Allis won her match at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-3, Carolyn Schmitz was victorious 7-5, 6-1, Jordan Anderson was a winner at No. 3 7-5, 6-2 and Taylor Allis completed the singles sweep 6-3, 6-3.
USC&8217;s top doubles team of Jessica Stensrud and Molly Yokiel won 6-4, 6-4 as did Emma Stenzel and Kellie Robbins at No. 2 6-2, 6-1. The Rebels&8217; lone loss came at No. 3 where Amanda Huper and Cami Christian were downed 3-6, 6-2, 5-7.
The Rebels are back in action Thursday at Waseca.
