Police arrested a 49-year-old Mazeppa man early Thursday morning for alleged felony theft, fleeing an officer and driving after revocation after a call came in of a possible theft at Interstate Motor Trucks in Albert Lea.
The man, Dale Micheal Bale, was located in Austin and has been taken into custody.
According to an Albert Lea Police Department press release, at 4:48 a.m. Thursday, the department received a call from a man who witnessed a suspicious brown Chevy pickup truck with an attached covered two-wheel trailer parked next to his vehicle. He said he saw a person run and noticed tires missing from vehicles, reports stated.
Officers responded to Interstate Motors and found that numerous tires were missing.
When the department and the Freeborn County Sheriff&8217;s Office attempted to locate the suspect vehicle, an Albert Lea Police Department officer found the vehicle on Interstate 90 by U.S. Highway 218 in Austin.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle with lights and siren activated, but the person refused to stop for the emergency vehicle. The vehicle eventually stopped at the 179 mile marker.
Police took Bale into custody, and officers located eight tires and rims valued at $4,000 in the rear of the covered trailer. Through subsequent investigation, police also found the covered trailer had been stolen from Minneapolis.
Bale is being held in the Freeborn County Adult Detention Center and is expected to appear in Freeborn County District Court today.
