Local student graduates

Marc Morfitt, of Albert Lea, graduated from Western Technical College in the nursing assistant program. Morfitt is one of the 1,561 graduates to receive an associate’s degree, technical diploma or certificate in 2011.

Student receives scholarship

Jackson Knudson, of Albert Lea, received the JFT O’Connor Student Scholarship from the University of North Dakota for the 2011-2012 academic year. Knudson, son of Kent and Shannon Knudson, graduated from Albert Lea Senior High School and plans to attend UND in the fall.

Scholarships awarded

Kayla Swee, of Albert Lea, a graduate of Albert Lea Senior High School, is a recipient of a Trustees Scholarship at Augustana College. In addition, Kayla has been selected to receive a $2,500 travel stipend for an international study experience in Ireland during spring break 2012. These awards are based on Swee’s outstanding academic record and performance in the Distinguished Scholars Competition.

Camille Christian, of Kiester, a graduate of United South Central High School, is the recipient of a Trustees Scholarship at Augustana College. This award is based on Christian’s outstanding academic record and performance in the Distinguished Scholars Competition.
