G-E midgets win Border League

The Glenville-Emmons midget softball team won the Border Line League Thursday night with a win over Lake Mills. G-E&8217;s seventh- and eighth-graders finished with the best record in league play at 9-1 while Lake Mills had the second-best record at 8-2. The teams played a championship in Glenville.
Kailey Davis got the win on the mound, pitching all five innings while recording six strikeouts. She allowed only two hits, walked one and hit one batter.
G-E scored in the first as Davis walked, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch. In the third, Alayna Hall got G-E&8217;s only base hit of the night. She stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch.
In the fifth, Devin Cooper walked, stole second and third and reached home when a dropped third strike was thrown to first.
Three big defensive plays were key to the victory, coach Lisa Ziebell said.
Ziebell was assisted by Ashley Lau and Linsdey Lorenzen.
