A rural Adams man could face criminal charges for a one-vehicle rollover after three 1.75-liter bottles of Windsor whiskey were found at the scene.

The rollover happened Saturday around 4 p.m. on County Road 4 one mile east of State Highway 56, according to Sheriff Terese Amazi. The driver was traveling east when he went in the south ditch and flipped after driving back on the road.

When Mower County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash, the 1991 Chevy GMT pickup was upside down, and the 50-year-old driver was trapped inside the vehicle. He was hanging upside down, too, suspended by his seatbelt, Amazi said.

Rose Creek Fire Department extracted the man.

Amazi said deputies found three 1.75-liter bottles of whiskey that had been thrown from the pickup. Two of the bottles were full and one had “very little” in it, she said. An accident report was forwarded to the Mower County Attorney’s Office, and charges will depend on blood test results.

Mayo One landed at the scene as a precaution, but the man was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin by ambulance. He sustained “minor injuries,” according to Amazi.
