The Albert Lea offense rapped out more hits against the Austin Athletics than it had in its previous three baseball games but still came up short, 10-8.
The Colonels had 14 hits in the game led by a 4-for-6 performance at the plate from Devin Kassa in the leadoff spot. He also drove in three runs.
Matt Trygstad added two hits including a double and Ryan Wangen had three hits.
Both teams were scoreless through the first three innings as Michael Greibrok pitched well for Albert Lea in his first start.
The game was tied at six heading into the eighth when the A&8217;s got a bases clearing double to score three of their four runs in the inning.
The Colonels scored twice in the ninth but left the bases loaded to end the game. Albert Lea also had the bases loaded in the sixth but managed just two runs.
&8220;We had our chances but we just couldn&8217;t get the big hit,&8221; Colonel head coach Bill Trygstad said.
The Colonels are now 0-4 on the season, but will look to pick up their first win Saturday in Owatonna.
