Sandy was born Nov. 24, 1921, a twin son of John and Caroline (Hanson) Sanderson.

He attended country school in Freeborn County and he graduated from Alden High School in 1941.

He worked for a time as farm hand and in 1942 he enlisted and served our country in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge in 1948.

Sandy was united in marriage to Ardus Fischer on March 25, 1951, in Walters.

He pursued his passion for auto repair and he worked for Seliger Motor, Linnes and Weiler&8217;s and Bill Olson&8217;s until becoming self employed, working in Alden. He served as a steward for the United Auto Workers.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council and had been a youth leader. In his earlier years he had also served as Cub and Scout Master. He was a member of the American Legion, the D.A.V., and had served on the Alden City Zoning Board.

Sandy was an avid fisherman and auto mechanic. He also enjoyed camping, dogs, and nature, as long as it involved having kids at his side. He was a great storyteller and an accomplished applesauce maker. He and Ardus enjoyed traveling together.

He is survived by his wife Ardus of Albert Lea; four children and their families, son Daryl Sanderson and his wife Shelli and their children Jacob and Toni of New London, son Dave Sanderson and his wife Sue and their children Kristin, Jessica, and Kelli of Albert Lea, daughter Diane and her husband Lon Thoms of Albert Lea and children: Jarrod (Kimberly) Robran and their daughter Leah, Jennifer Bute and Derek Bute, and son Steve Sanderson and his wife Pam and their children Paige, Macie and Tyson of Annandale; sisters-in-law: Barb Sanderson and Delores Fischer, both of Albert Lea, and Darlene Fischer of Owatonna; and several nieces and nephews.

Sandy was preceded in death by his parents; brother Clarence and twin brother Thorvald; sisters Julia Kilen and Olive Sanderson; grandson Joshua Sanderson; mother-in-law Mildred Fischer; and brothers-in-law Kenneth, Orville, and Donald Fischer.

Sandy was a very kind and compassionate man and will be greatly missed. &8220;One of the nicest people I&8217;ve ever met was my dad.&8221;
