A five-run fifth by Maple River helped secure an 8-3 victory over the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva baseball team Friday.
Joe McGuire made his first start of the season for the Panthers giving up four earned runs on six hits while striking out three and walking two.
&8220;Joe was a little rusty but threw well,&8221; NRHEG head coach Jeff Reese said.
The Panthers went up 1-0 in the first when Dakota Tracy used a walk and a passed ball to score. Taylor Holland would add a solo home run in the third as NRHEG pounded out 11 hits in the game.
NRHEG trailed by just one, 3-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth when Maple River strung together several hits to plate five runs.
Holland finished with two hits at the plate and drove in two. Luke Forester had a pair of hits and Tracy was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.
NRHEG hosted Triton last night in non-conference game.
