Editorial: Plenty to do in Albert Lea
Published 12:00 am Wednesday, May 2, 2007
This weekend is a busy one.
First, the circus is in town for two performances Friday.
Secondly, &8220;Dancing with the Freeborn County Stars&8221;should prove to be a spectacle that night.
Thirdly, there&8217;s an interesting sound meditation concert at the Episcopal Church on the same night.
And don&8217;t forget the Albert Lea Art Center opens its Ester Kanzenbach exhibit.
Then on Saturday, there&8217;s the Freeborn County Bike-A-Thon, the Cinco de Mayo celebration at Northbridge Mall, the enjoyable Elvis contest at the American Legion and plenty more we aren&8217;t listing here.
(Check the Weekend Planner in our Thursday edition for times of all the weekend events.)
The point is, if you look around, Albert Lea offers plenty of activities. The number of events increases in May and we stay busy through the summer because most of us really love our town.
So if you hear someone say, &8220;There&8217;s nothing to do in Albert Lea,&8221; correct them. That&8217;s flat-out wrong. They probably watch too much TV and don&8217;t pay attention to the community.
Albert Lea indeed is the place for the good life.
