Tigers track team continues to shine

ROSEMOUNT &8212; The Albert Lea boy&8217;s track team put on another strong performance Friday when it finished seventh at the Rosemount Invitational which including 24 season bests performances.
&8220;Once again we had a fabulous meet,&8221; said Tigers head coach Lisa Deyak. &8220;The team has been focused, hard-working, and ready to compete, plus we beat South Saint Paul.&8221;
Christophe Collard finished ninth in the 100-meter dash posting a time of 11.95. Jordan Reichow crossed the line in the 200-meter dash at 24.65 and placed 14th.
In the 400, the Tigers
had two runners in the top 10, Matt Tiegs finished sixth at 53.79 while Collard came in on his heels with a 54.01 and a seventh place finish. Isaac Brandt finished in 59.51.
Richie Needham and Ryan Hoium posted times of 2:16.63 and 2:27.47, respectively, good for 13th and 26th place in the 800.
In the 1,600-meter run Levi Budd finished close to the front of the pack when he crossed the line at 4:50.88 for ninth place. Hoium and Stephen Bera finished 27th and 30th at the 5:18.40 and 5:27.73 marks. Finishing out the running events for the Tigers and placing second in the 3,200 meter run, Ethan Marquardt finished just two seconds out of first with a 10:12.98. Judd Bonnerup crossed the line two minutes later at 12:11.89.
In the relay events, the team of Reichow, Logan Ferrie, Taylor Ngo and John Chryst placed seventh in the 4×100 with a time of 48.24. In the 4×400 relay Collard, Ben Waalkens, Needham and Tiegs posted a time of 3:41.05 good for seventh.
In the field events, Ngo&8217;s long jump of 17 feet, 6 1/4 inches was good for 14th place. Jules Novena and Ngo placed 16th and 20th, respectively, in the triple jump.
Tyler Hitchcock placed a very strong fourth in the high jump after clearing the bar at 5 feet, 8 inches while Tiegs made it to 5 feet, 4 inches. Another top performer was Marquardt in the pole vault with an eighth place finish at 10 feet, 6 inches.
Shot putters for the Tigers were Alex Talamantes with a throw of 29 feet, 6 inches and Aaron Thomas at 26 inches 9 inches. In the discus, Brett Paulson threw a 81 feet, 8 inches while Mitch Webb and Maxwell King finished with throws of 75 feet, 11 inches and 73 feet, 4 inches, respectively.
The Tigers will be back in action today when they travel to Owatonna for a triangular with the Huskies and the Winhawks from Winona.
