The memorial service for Marjorie &8220;Marge&8221; Helen Whiteis Stephenson will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, 301 W. Clark St., Albert Lea.
The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Burial will be in Hayward Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
Marge died on Friday, April 27, 2007, at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea, following a two-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 73 years old.
Marge was born in Albert Lea on Feb. 25, 1934, the daughter of Merton and Mayme (Olson) Whiteis. She was baptized in 1937 and confirmed in 1949 at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She attended Albert Lea and Freeborn schools.
She was united in marriage with Roger Kaiser in 1950 in First Lutheran Church. In 1970 she married Donald Stephenson at First Lutheran Church.
Marge had worked in factories, banks and had cooked in Albert Lea. She had fond memories of spending time at Leech Lake with her brothers. She was a loving, generous, supportive mom and grandma and a fun-loving &8220;Ummie.&8221; Maddie, Livvie and Spencer were the light of her life during her illness. They gave her reason to fight and what a brave, selfless battle she put up!
Marge is survived by her three children: Larry (Paula) Kaiser of Maple Grove, Skip (Cherie) Kaiser of Hillrose, Colo., Jennifer (Jeff) Van Beek of Austin; nine grandchildren: Kim, Scot, James, Jason, Nate, Matt, Maddie, Livvie, and Spencer; three great-grandchildren: Brittany, Jessie and Brody; four brothers:
Russell (Wanda) Whiteis of Golden Valley, Lowell (Doris) Whiteis of Walker, George (Elaine) Whiteis of Surf Side Beach, S.C., and Mert (Dianne) Whiteis of Surf Side Beach, S.C.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mayme and Mert Whiteis; brother, Dale Whiteis; and sister, Marlene Hyland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
