Clifford Johnson, 81, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Clifford L. Johnson, 81, of Albert Lea, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. Linda Gunderson will officiate. Interment will be in the Central Freeborn Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County veterans organizations. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Clifford died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Clifford Luverne Johnson was born Aug. 29, 1925, to Martin L. and Clara (Listule) Johnson in Albert Lea. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended school in Albert Lea. Clifford served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. On Dec. 28, 1946, he was united in marriage to Betty Sigurdson at the Central Freeborn Lutheran parsonage. Clifford farmed near Manchester, drove a truck, worked as a mechanic, and was employed at Wilson & Co. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, and the Fountain Lake Sportsmen&8217;s Club and enjoyed fishing and hunting, woodworking, and wildlife, especially feeding birds. Clifford enjoyed time in his back yard with his dog, &8220;Buffy.&8221; He especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren fishing and hunting and teaching them about it.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Albert Lea; sons, Ronald and wife, Judy Johnson of Leona, Texas, and Bruce Johnson of Albert Lea; daughter, Paulette and husband, Scott Kallberg of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Chad, Sasha, Stacey, Lucas, Jeremy, and Nick; great-grandchildren: Chase, Catch, Blake, Calissa, Cole, Makenzie, and Evan; brother, Edwin and wife, Sylvia Johnson of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents and half-brothers, Melvin and Levander.
