Elmer Trostheim, 85, Lake MIlls, Iowa

Elmer C. Trostheim, 85, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Monday, March 05, 2007 at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, his 86th birthday, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. W. Paul Weeg officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery in Lake Mills.

Trostheim, on March 11, 1921 near

Scarville, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at

Bethel Lutheran Church in Vinje, Iowa. He attended rural schools through eighth grade when he started working as a farm hand.

On Dec. 7, 1947, Elmer was united in marriage to Harriet Korn at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden.

Having a life-long love of cars, he was a self-taught mechanic. He used those skills for thirtysix years as an employee of Kingland Motor Co. in

Lake Mills. He retired in 1983 at the age of 62.

Elmer passed away on Monday, March 5, 2007, at the

Lake

Mills Care Center only six days short of his 86th birthday, he was a victim of Parkinsons disease.

He is survived by his loving wife wife of 59 years, Harriet of Lake Mills, Iowa; sons, Jerry Trostheim of Mason City, Iowa; Dennis Trostheim of Lake Mills, Iowa; grandsons, Aaron Trostheim and Shawn Trostheim, both of Mason City, Iowa; brother, Gilman Trostheim of Scarville, Iowa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and George Young of Toluca, Ill.; Clarice and Vern Olson of Clarks Grove; along with many nieces and nephews.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Thom and Hattie (Olson) Trostheim; his mother and father-in-law, George and Bertha (Rebelein) Korn; sister, Ann Cornell; sister-in-law, Burnette Trostheim and brothers-in-law, Roger Anderson and Kenneth Christenson.

Elmer&8217;s family wants to acknowledge the staff at the Lake

Mills Care Center for the outstanding care he received while he was a patient there and also Dr. Arvin Vocal at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
