Irene Poole, 94, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Irene H. Poole will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the First Lutheran Chapel in Albert Lea. The Reverend John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the First Lutheran Chapel. Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Irene Poole, 94, of Albert Lea, a homemaker, died Sunday, March 4, 2007 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island.

Irene was born March 10, 1912, in Steel County, N.D. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools. On September 20, 1940, she married Francis Poole in Northwood, IA. The couple moved to Albert Lea and her husband worked at Wilson Inc., a meat packing plant. He died on Dec. 5, 1985.

Irene was an active member of First Lutheran Church and was involved with her sewing and quilting activities for many years. She was particularly active in the &8220;Happiness is a Blanket&8221; campaign; an organization that works on making quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She enjoyed the many social activities at the Union Center and Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include: one son Roger (Barbara) Poole of Pine Island, two grandchildren: Brenda (Dean Kukson) of Pine Island, Brent (Yuri) of Atlanta and four great grandchildren: Nathan, Mitchell and Mathew Kukson and Haruka Poole.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister: Helmer, Alfred, Elvin, and Lily Amundson.
