Manly Jensen, 86, Hayward

Manly Wallace &8220;Mutt&8221; Jensen, age 86, of Hayward, formerly of Moscow, lost his battle with cancer after a good fight Tuesday evening, Feb. 6, 2007, at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea.

He was born Nov. 7, 1920, the third oldest of 12 children, to Walter and Anna (Nelsen) Jensen in Newry Township, Freeborn County. He served in the Army during World War II in both North Africa and the European Theater. He married Mathilda &8220;Tillie&8221; Kubat on Feb. 21, 1948. They were blessed with eight children, 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A longtime employee of Joseph Construction, he enjoyed spending time with his family and also with his friends at Geneva Liquor. He was a lifelong resident of southern Minnesota and a 40-year resident of Moscow, having moved to Hayward four years ago.

Left to mourn his death are seven children, Barbara (Frank) Andersen of Albert Lea, Linda (Bruce) Aufenthie of Rochester, Dennis (Cindy) Jensen of Austin, David (LuAnn) Jensen of Austin, Marsha (Charles) Williamson of Austin, Brenda (Jerry Scott) Wirtjes of Albert Lea and Dean Jensen of Austin; a son-in-law, Richard Spinler of Lyle; 20 grandchildren, Laura Andersen, Jason (Charity) Andersen, Peter Aufenthie, Angie Aufenthie, Kevin (Amy) Spinler, Kris Spinler, Melissa (Jeramy) Verness, Sarah, Brandon and Brooke Jensen, Jason (Bri) Pedersen, Jordan Jensen, Dan Wirtjes, Brandy Wirtjes, Bonnie and Becky Erath, Rhonda Jensen, Chris Dennison, Nick Jensen and Ashley Jensen; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Leslie Jensen of Mapleview and Donnie (Carol) Jensen of Kiester; sisters, Sally Anderson of Hayward, Dorothy Underland of Austin and Lolly Gwin of Moose Lake; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie; daughter, Sandra; a son, Dale in infancy; his parents; brothers, Sylvester, Alton, Richard and Jeff; and sisters, Elaine and Geraldine.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. John Malm officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Geneva Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 91.
