Albert Lea Icemen get loss and tie in recent action

The Albert Lea Jr. Gold Icemen fell short in goals in a recent game played at Hastings Jan. 13.
Hastings took advantage scoring two of its five goals in the first period.
Leading in the second period Hastings scored again followed by a power play goal from the Icemen&8217;s Phil Runden finally putting a score on the board for the locals. Assists for the goal from Nick Koza and Nate Yentsch.
Hastings quickly fired back with a shorthanded goal to widen the lead 4-1. The Icemen fell short in the third period by scoring their final goal at 9:05 in the period by Koza with an assist from Mark Stokke and Yentsch.
Dustin Hafstad stopped 25 shots in net.
The locals then traveled to Hudson, Wisc., Jan. 14.Yentsch put the first puck in the net at 11:25 in the first period.
Two quick goals from Hudson took lead away from Albert Lea. The Icemen didn&8217;t let their guard down as they finished the first period strong by scoring two goals to take the lead back. Scoring for locals were Koza and Gradon Schultz with assists going to Yentsch, Runden and Bryce Adams.
In the second period both teams would skate with no goals scored. At 12:56 in the third period Icemen&8217;s forward Scott Possehl would score for Albert Lea with an assist from defenseman Alex Sheetz.
Unfortunately for the Icemen they could not keep the lead as Hudson would put two pucks in net in the last three minutes of game to end the period in a 4-4 tie.
Hafstad had 27 saves for the game.
The Jr. Gold Icemen will host a Biscuit and Gravy Benefit Breakfast Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Moose Lodge.
