NRHEG wins St. Clair Duals

ST. CLAIR &8212; The No. 9 New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva wrestling team went a perfect 4-0 at the St. Clair Duals over the weekend.
The Panthers downed Austin 43-25 winning nine matches and getting pins from No. 2 Krey Cory, and No. 1 Taylor Holland.
The biggest match was between the Panthers&8217; fifth-ranked Brandon Schlaak and sixth-ranked (in Class AAA) Jim McDermott where Schlaak came out on top 9-7 in overtime.
The Panthers also picked up wins over Byron 44-28, St. James 40-26 and St. Clair 50-9.
Colton Schlaak, Tim Bartness, Cory, Gaven Schlaak and Mitch Brekke all went a perfect 4-0 in St.
Clain. Brekke had a big tournament getting a pin in just nine seconds and recording his 100th career victory making him the fourth Panther to reach the milestone this season.
Bartness scored a big 8-2 decision over Beamer Flowers of St. Clair in a rematch of last year&8217;s section final.
The Panthers began the week with a 42-30 victory over Waterville-Elysian-Morristown. Colton Schlaak, Bartness, Cory, Gaven Schlaak and Brekke all had pins.
The Panthers are now 15-7 on the season and 2-1 in the Gopher Conference.
