Merle Anderson, 88, Hayward

The funeral service for Merle Gladys Anderson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Hayward Lutheran Church.
The Rev. John R. Malm will officiate. Burial will be Hayward Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the church.
Merle died on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
She was 88 years old.
Merle was born Nov. 27, 1918, daughter of Cloyd and Marcella Keller,
of rural Dexter.
Merle spent her childhood on the farm with her parents, brothers and sister. In 1936 she met Andy Anderson, who lived on a neighboring farm. They were married in 1938 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. LaVerne, their oldest son, was born in 1939 and in 1944 their second son, Perry was born.
Merle and Andy remained on the farm until 1959 when they moved into Hayward.
Merle, throughout her life, was an excellent homemaker.
After the farm she worked for a time at Skinners Department Store in Albert Lea. Also, she was a
postal clerk for 16 years at the Hayward Post Office.
Merle will be remembered for her many talents which she shared unselfishly with family and friends.
She was gifted in upholstery work, quiltmaking, crocheting and other crafts.
She was an active member of the Hayward Lutheran Church.
She served in many ways and was always faithful.
Merle is survived by her son, LaVerne (Shirley) Anderson of Wabasha, ; grandchildren: Todd
(Marcie) Anderson of Albert Lea, Lisa Anderson of Freeborn, Wade (Amanda) Anderson of Lake Mills, Iowa, Angie (Bob) Rognes of Lake Mills, Tim Seberson of Napa, Calif., and LuAnn Lechnir of Mason City, Iowa;
great-grandchildren: Nikki (Mike) Olson, Ashley Anderson, Jordan Anderson, Ty Anderson, Kristan Slowinski, Nick Slowinski, Brandon Slowinski,
Rochelle Rognes, Anthony Rognes, Alexis Anderson, Tavar Parker and Christopher Jandebeur; great-great- grandchildren: Logan Olson, Madison Garson and Samantha Garson; brothers: Howard (Betty) Keller of Austin, Clifford (Charlotte) Keller of Austin, and John (Laverne) Keller of Eugene, Ore.; sister, Florence Ohm of Austin; sisters-in-law: Estelle Keller, Norma Keller and Eileen Keller Roper. She is also survived by Shirley&8217;s son, Jeff (Brandi) Draayer and children, Taylor and Lauren.
Merle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andy in 1995; son, Perry; granddaughter, Lori Slowinski; great-grandson, Jason Parker; and brothers:
Ralph, Lynn, Harold and Maynard.
