Curtis Jepson, 67, Harrisonburg City, Va.

Curtis James Jepson, son of Penny and Jens Jepson, passed away after a lingering illness on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in Harrisonburg City, Va. at age 67. A memorial service will be held at Bradley&8217;s Funeral Home, Luray, Va. on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 11 a.m.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Robert. He is survived by his wife of seven years Mary Ellen, her children and grandchildren. Also surviving are his children from a previous marriage to Joyce Vietor Jepson, Marie Jepson of Alexandria, Va. and Sandra and her spouse Mark Hoskins of Marion, N.C. and grandson Michael Jepson Green.

Other family who survive include his mother Penny Harbey and siblings Dolly and Eldon Hunt of Faribault, Jerry and Donna Jepson of Indiana, Mary Christenson Harriman of Albert Lea, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

In retirement Jepson raised Appaloosa and Paso Fino horses and restored old tractors at his 50-50 farm home in Luray. He was most recently, until 1999, the owner of Curt&8217;s Plumbing and Heating of Alexandria, Va. He held master&8217;s licenses in plumbing, heating and air conditioning in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Among his other business interests was the Running Springs Green House where he developed and sold azaleas, geraniums and impatiens. Before moving to Virginia, he was employed by the Albert Lea Water Company in the 1960s.

A 1957 graduate of Albert Lea High School, Jepson enlisted in the U.S. Navy and earned the rank of E-6 as an underwater welder and was honorably discharged after a traffic accident ended his career. As a diver, stationed principally on the USS Holder, Jepson was able to travel to many countries throughout the world. For many years, he also enjoyed restoring boats, fishing, and hunting and was a member of the Mount Vernon Yacht Club and the U.S. Coast Guard Flotilla.
