Earl Haukoos, 91, Walters

Earl &8220;Tommy&8221; Haukoos, age 91, of Walters, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at Albert Lea Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday

at United Lutheran Church in Walters. The Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Walters Cemetery in Walters.

Earl Haukoos was born July 4, 1915, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, the son of Peter and Mary (Hauskins) Haukoos. He moved to Walters at age 3 and attended Walters School through the eighth grade.

He married Ruth Anderson on Oct. 7, 1939, at the Bethany Lutheran Parsonage in rural Frost.

He worked at Speltz Elevator, West Side Elevator, Winnebago Industries, Bricelyn Canning Company and for the city of Walters.

He served as mayor of Walters and on the Faribault County Council on Aging.

He was a member of the Walters Senior Citizens and United Lutheran Church and had served on the church council. He enjoyed Twins baseball, singing, and feeding the birds.

Earl is survived by his children, Richard and Susan Haukoos of Albert Lea, Mary and husband Ervin Gerber of Walters, Dale and wife Donnell Haukoos of Northwood, Iowa, and Paul and wife Nadine Haukoos of St. Peter; grandchildren: Greg Haukoos, Ricky (Julie) Haukoos, Michael (Shelly) Haukoos, David Haukoos, Leisa (Todd) Fergot and Vanessa Reed; Amy (Patric) Pehrson, Jean Baca, Eric Gerber (special friend Margaret Vonlehe), Rhonda Haukoos (special friend Jim West), Rachel (Jay) Kerns, Kristine (Chris) Voeltz, Chad Haukoos, Brian (Sarah) Haukoos and Mark Haukoos (special friend Lucy Atkins); 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Pearl Lindeman of Albert Lea and Margaret Haukoos of Walters; one brother Wallace (wife Marie) Haukoos of Estherville, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ruth; grandson Brent Haukoos; grandson-in-law Mark Baca; eight brothers;

three sisters;

six brothers-in-law; and 10 sisters-in-law.
