Seminars explain new regulations for IRAs

Three seminars designed to provide information on new IRS regulations of Individual Retirement Accounts have been scheduled.

David Bonnerup, executive director of United Way of Freeborn County, and Heidi Cunningham, director of Albert Lea Community Education, said there be limited seating.

An individual 70 1/2 or older is eligible to transfer money tax-free from an IRA to a charity in 2006 and 2007. Seminars will be held Tuesday in the boardroom at Brookside Education Center at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Call 373-8670 to reserve a place.

Certified public accountants Jane Adams, Doreen Dieser or Paul Amman will explain the new law and how it could benefit people. Financial institution representatives Deb Kenison, Jan Jerdee or Alex Johnston will clarify the steps necessary to make a tax-free transfer from an IRA. Finally, Paul Overgaard or Herb Anderson will discuss the benefits of endowments and charitable foundations. Speakers will be available to answer questions after the presentations.
