James Busall, 54, Albert Lea

Memorial services for James M. Busall, age 54, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. Jim Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore&8217;s Cemetery with military honors accorded by Freeborn County servicemen&8217;s organizations. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the church.
James Michael Busall was born Dec. 11, 1951, to Michael and Doris (Swygman) Busall in Faribault.
He attended Catholic school in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1969.
After high school, James served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973 and received the National Defense Service Medal. After his discharge, he graduated from ALIVETI with a cooking degree and a welding degree. James married Deborah Knutson Aug. 8, 1981. They have four children: Christopher, Nicholas, Tonya and Amber. Jim worked as a meat cutter for Dudley&8217;s IGA, Red Owl, El&8217;s Fine Foods and Super Fair. He also worked at Wilson&8217;s, Farmstead, Salvation Army, Nelson&8217;s County Market and Instate Molding. Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Deb Busall of Albert Lea; children: Christopher of Iowa and Nicholas, Tonya and her fianc/ Brian Rodriguez, and Amber of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Madison, Logan, Jon, and a new grandchild coming; sister, Sherry (Alan) Freeman and brother, Bruce (Pat) Busall, all of Albert Lea; uncles and aunts; cousins, Tom and Terry Gordon; many nieces and nephews that he truly loved; and special friend, Matt Borland.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Doris; daughter, Michelle; grandparents; and mother and father-in-law, Irene and Virgil Knutson.
