Here are highlights in history for Sept. 4, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — Gayle Dillavou of the Twin Lakes 4-H Club was nominated into the state 4-H Review Court of Honor with the dress she made for the Freeborn County Fair.
1978 — Kentucky Fried Chicken, 910 S. Broadway Ave., was celebrating Col. Sanders’ 88th birthday with a price of 88 cents off a bucket or barrel of chicken with a Tribune coupon.
1958 — About 925 students would be attending the new Southwest Junior High School.
