“Electricity From the Past to the Present” was the program topic when National Active and Retired Federal Employees members met for their lunch and meeting on April 13 at the Holiday Inn at Austin. The program presenter was Mary Nelson of Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Services. She traced the history of electricity from the time there was none on farms to the time when all farms were serviced. Franklin Roosevelt was a big supporter of the effort as were many community leaders.

During the NARFE business meeting, President Jon Green reported on plans for the state NARFE convention, which will be held at Rochester on May 25-27. There is concern because attendance numbers are down. Since the convention will be nearby he urged those who could, to attend, if only for a day. Mary Lee Thompson, Ron and Peg Seath and Jon will be official delegates.

In other business Chapter 469 members voted to give a $100 donation to the Alzheimer’s fund and Mary Lee Thompson noted that she will be giving an afghan for an Alzheimer’s raffle at the convention.
