James Larson, 89

The memorial service for James R. Larson will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel.
James died on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. He was 89 years old.
James was born in St. Paul on Dec. 14, 1916, the son of James C. and Ellen (Lundberg) Larsen. He attended school in the Albert Lea area where he lived most of his life. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945.
On Oct. 14, 1941, James was united in marriage with Esther Weisensel. After the war James worked as a carpenter for three years and then for Dr. John Higbee, DVM for eight years. Since then he had been a self- employed carpenter and painter.
James is survived by one daughter, Katherine (Steve) Frederick of Waseca; one son, Larry (Pat) Larson of Waseca; eight grandchildren: Kim (Curt) Nicoley of Waseca, Donald Larson of Waseca, Monte (Jennifer Lechner) Larson of Janesville, Jaime (Anne) Larson of Waseca, Wendy (Chris) Swenson of Belgrade, Mont., Joanne Frederick of Waseca, Kristen Frederick of Waseca, Lynn (Ron) Sands of Waseca; 10 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Keaton, and Camren Nicoley of Waseca, Shelby and Jordyn Larson of Janesville, Nicole and Jennifer Larson of Waseca, Rachael, Cameron and Kiana Sands of Waseca; three brothers: Howard, Kenneth and Alvin Larsen; one sister, Helen Kreager; one daughter-in-law, Darlene Larson of Waseca; and special friend, Helen Weik.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther in 1989; two sons: Keith and Steven Larson; granddaughter, Deborah Frederick; two sisters: Dorothy and Leona.
