The memorial service for Henry
Alonzo Crabtree of Ellendale will be at 11
a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the United Methodist Church, Ellendale.
The Rev. Gary Liker will officiate.
Interment will be in Geneva Cemetery.
Visitation with his family will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Henry died
Friday, Nov. 3, 2006 at the New Richland Care Center.
He was
87 years old.
Henry was born June 29, 1919 in Zion, Ill., to Lloyd and Pearl (Schroder) Crabtree.
They moved to Ellendale, where Henry attended rural school.
Because of the death of his mother, when he was only 14 years of age (surviving were seven brothers and sisters younger than Henry), he stayed home and helped and wasn’t able to go to high school.
Henry married Ellamae Knight on June 8, 1942.
Henry was a member of the United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and belonged to the men’s group.
Henry was a member of the Minnesota Flying Farmers and an officer in the Shasta Trailer Association.
He enjoyed
flying, woodworking, hunting, fishing, playing cards and going south for the winter.
Henry is survived by four daughters:
Gloria Pogalz (Gene) of Owatonna, Mary Lerberg (Andy) of Ellendale, Sharon Parsons of Paradise, Calif., and Naomi Wangsness of Geneva; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
two sisters, Hazel Soukup and Sylvia Miller; and brother, Dan Crabtree.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents: Lloyd and Pearl
Crabtree; wife, Ellamae; son, Lloyd Crabtree; sisters, Lucy Siedelmann and Ruth Elenbaas; and brothers, Walter Crabtree, Seth Crabtree and Gladwyn Crabtree in infancy.
