ST. PAUL — Officials have released the name of a woman shot and killed by a Minnesota State Trooper after she dragged him with her car.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner says Sunday the woman was 48-year-old Debra Doree of Landfall.
Authorities say the trooper was making a routine traffic stop on Saturday in the Oakdale area, when he noticed what appeared to be drugs in the car. As the trooper was checking it out, Doree tried to flee.
State Patrol Lt. Col. Matt Langer said the trooper’s arm got entangled in the woman’s steering wheel, and the trooper was dragged about 200 feet before he shot Doree.
The trooper’s name is expected to be released on Monday. He suffered non-critical injuries.
The trooper has been put on leave while the incident is investigated.
