Lake Mills gets important win

The Lake Mills volleyball team took control of the North Iowa Conference with a 25-22, 25-18, 25-22 victory over previously unbeaten Forest City.
The Bulldogs trailed in all three games but were able to mount a comeback each time to earn the three game sweep.
Lake Mills (6-0, 19-3) got strong serving performances from Megan Pederson who went 18-for-18 with two aces while Courtney Kingland missed just one serve and had four aces.
&8220;We had a balanced attack tonight and it was a total team effort,&8221; Bulldog head coach Jim Boehmer said.
Pederson had 11 kills while Jordynn Brackey added seven. Kingland dished out 21 assists and Caitlin Skjeie had a team-high 13 digs.
&8220;We were able to withstand their early leads. They were first to 15 points in each game and led by at least five points in each game,&8221; Boehmer said.
The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday at the Garrigan Tournament.
In Wells, United South Central fell to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in three games 11-25, 22-25, 17-25.
Lindsey Dahl had four kills for the rebels while four others had two apiece. Alesha Satre and Lauren Schuster each had a pair of blocks and Ciara Christenson added 12 assists.
Sam Sonnek led USC in the back row with a team-high 20 digs.
The Rebels are now 2-7 on the season and 1-2 in the Gopher Conference.
