Two ramps connecting Interstate 35 to U.S. Highway 14 near Owatonna will close Monday.

The ramp from northbound I-35 to eastbound U.S. 14 and the ramp from westbound U.S. 14 to southbound 1-35 will close, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Motorists will be detoured from Highway 14 to Steele County Road 45 south, then to Minnesota Highway 30 west to I-35 near Ellendale.

These ramp closures will be in effect until November 2010, when this year’s construction work is expected to be completed.

The ramp closures are part of the three-year reconstruction of Highway 14 from Waseca to Owatonna, which includes construction of a new interchange at I-35 and Highway 14.

Mathiowetz Construction Co. of Sleepy Eye is the prime contractor for the $51.8 million project. The entire project is expected to be completed by June 15, 2012.
