Edith Hastings, 84, of Austin

Edith Christine Hastings, age 84 of Austin, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006 at her home. She was born August 20, 1922 to John and Selma (Himle) Golly in Benedict, N.D. She married Raey Hastings II on June 12, 1948 in Austin where they made their home, and Edith worked for Hormel Foods. A member of Crane Chapel and later St. Olaf Lutheran Church, she enjoyed fishing, reading and traveling. The eastern United States and Oregon were included in her visits.
Survivors include a son, Raey “Chip” Hastings III of Austin; three grandchildren, Kristina Hastings, Raey Hastings IV and Amanda (Jason) Wencl, all of Austin; two great grandchildren, Raey Hastings V and Sydney Hastings; brother-in-law, Mark “Skip” (Jean) Hastings of Austin; sister-in-law, Mae Golly of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces; nephews; special friends, Beth Hastings, Kelly (David) Nystel, Deb Kobow and Nate Conner, all of Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raey in 1973; her parents; brothers, Floyd and Orren; sisters, Alice, Laura, Ethel and Louella.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 29 at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with The Reverend Ron Barnett officiating. Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.
