No matter your opinion on whether America is safer than it was 10 years ago and whether the country has become a better place since the attacks that many thought would change everything, there is no doubt that it will be heartwarming to see people come together to show their love for America.
Warning sirens will sound and church bells will ring for a full minute at noon Sunday in Freeborn County as a signal for area residents to stop and remember the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Several churches in the Albert Lea area are organizing a special memorial service at 7 p.m. Sunday. It takes place at Grace Lutheran Church to give community members a time to remember what the events of that day and to pray for healing for the nation and the world.
The Moose Lodge starting at 5 p.m. Saturday held its third-annual Tribute to 9/11, with a street dance beginning at 8 p.m. Many area firefighters and police officers attended.
It is refreshing to stop and remember that no matter our differences of opinions, we are all on the same side. We are all Americans. We all love this country. We all mourn the thousands who lost their lives on 9/11 and the subsequent wars resulting from it.
None of us will ever forget.
