Eleanor Peterson, 87, of Geneva

Funeral services for Eleanor G. Peterson, age 87, of Geneva will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, August 21, at the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva.

Pastor Joel Xavier will officiate. Interment will be in the Geneva Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Eleanor died Thursday, August 17, 2006, at her home.

Eleanor G. Peterson was born June 26, 1919, to Peder E. and Myrtle G. (Stoa) Hojberg in Geneva. She lived in the Geneva area all her life, attended school in District #82, and worked on the family farm. On February 26, 1941, Eleanor was united in marriage to Ferris A. Peterson at the parsonage of Community Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Geneva area. Eleanor was a member of the Community Lutheran Church and the Golden Rule Circle.

She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and reading.

Eleanor was a very caring and kind person and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, LeRoy and his wife, Gladys of Albert Lea and Richard and his wife, Bonnie of Ellendale; daughters, Juanita Matejcek of Owatonna and Judy and her husband, Jack Nashette of Richmond, Va.; six grandsons, four granddaughters, and 12 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Kenneth and Gerald.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and grandchildren, Jamie Peterson and Lori Matejcek.
