Hubert Wacholtz, 90, of Austin

Hubert Matthew Wacholtz, 90, of Austin, died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.

He was born April 29, 1916, in Urbank, Minn., to Theodore and Elizabeth (Koep) Wacholtz.

He married Marie V. Henning on June 13, 1938, in Albert Lea, Minn. She preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 2005.

He was an administrative/supply technician for the National Guard. He also served in the U.S. Army and well as being a state and local president for NARFE, local president of AARP, a member of the Knights of Columbus #1201, a member of the American Legion Post #91 and the secretary of the bowling league.

Survivors include his children: Robert (Sharon) Wacholtz, New Hope, William (Kathleen) Wacholtz, Amherst, Va., Richard (Violet) Wacholtz, Bloomington, Janet (David) Zupon, Becker, Thomas (Mavis) Wacholtz, Rochester, Theodore (Linda) Wacholtz, Boothbay, Maine, and Veronica Haselius, Coon Rapids; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty Herplinek, Albert Lea, and Helen Olsen, Winona; and a brother, Henry (Barbara) Wacholtz, Austin. &160;

In addition to his wife he was most recently preceded in death by his son-in-law, Larry Haselius Sr. on Jan. 14, 2006 three brothers, Leonard, Lawrence and Albert Wacholtz, and a sister Theresa Nelson.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 10, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin with the Rev Joe Fogal officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #91. There will be a 6:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary on Sunday evening at the Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday and from 9 to 10 a.m. on&160;Monday.
