LAKE MILLS, Iowa — An election Tuesday produced two new members for the Lake Mills school board.
Three director positions were up for election including Districts 2, 3 and 4. Ryan Joynt was re-elected for his seat for District 2, with 99 votes, or 100 percent of votes.
Wesley Womack took the District 3 seat with 93 votes and almost 98 percent of votes. There were two write-in votes for the seat. Lisa Stutzman had previously held it.
Kathy Christianson took the District 4 seat with 99 votes and 99 percent of votes. There was one write-in vote for the seat. Debra Georgia had previously held this spot and been board president.
Lake Mills Superintendent Daryl Sherman said Georgia had been on the board for about 13 years and had decided it was time to leave, and Stutzman will be starting a business venture that she’ll need more time for. He said he was looking forward to working with the board and its two new members.
“Any time there’s interest in volunteering for service such as being a board member that’s always good,” Sherman said.
The other two director positions expire in 2013 and are held by Kim Kirschbaum and Don Knudtson.
Polls were open in Lake Mills from noon until 8 p.m. The Winnebago County Auditor Karla Niederkofler had results tallied late Tuesday evening.
