Donald Francis Jones, 82, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2006, in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. He was born on Dec. 9, 1923 in Perham.
Donald moved to Lake Havasu City, Ariz., 11 years ago, from Perham. He worked as a publisher and general manager for the Albert Lea Tribune for nine years. Donald proudly served his country in the Air Force in World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 81, VFW Post 9401, Eagles Aerie 4299 and BPOE Lodge 2399.
Donald began his career as the first radio announcer at KORN in Mitchell, S.D. He was always on the cutting edge of media technology. Donald also brought the first cable franchise to Austin. He was a publisher for the Lancaster Gazette in Lancaster, Calif.; sales manager for the Austin Daily
Herald; president and general manager of radio stations KQAQ in Austin; sales manager for KMMT television station in Austin; manager for radio stations KLIZ in Brainerd; announcer at WJJW, the
first FM radio station in Michigan, and also in sales at KSTP radio station in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
He was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Donald is survived by loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy Jane Jones; sons D. Edward Jones and wife Mary of Jupiter, Fla.; Gerald J. Jones and wife Leslie of Stillwater; daughter Jane P. Kallio and husband Bill of Richmond, Virg.; sister Agnes E. Null and husband George of Bloomington; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Perham. Burial will be at the catholic cemetery in Perham.
